In this class, you will learn how habitual thought patterns contribute to stress and lack of ease in daily life. Learn basic mindfulness meditation techniques that help cultivate a different relationship with our mind, fostering resilience and peace. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to understand the role of thought and use targeted techniques to embrace present moment awareness and engagement. We will discuss the nature of the mind and thought, the neuroscience of habit, supporting philosophies of meditation, and skillful ways to find presence.
Decluttering & Organizing Your Home ( In Person ) Pomperaug H.S.

Participants will learn strategies to tame those piles of paper, organize those closets, and tackle that “spare room” we all have. Participants will have the tools to make the necessary decisions about what they are keeping, donating, or discarding, and then knowing where to store the things that they are keeping.

Introduction To Basketry (In Person) HVRHS

Begin exploring the world of basketry by weaving a flat-red muffin basket (11" L X 6 1/2" W X 4 1/2" H) with a colorful chain pattern around its circumference. Students build on basketry skills by exploring various weaving techniques and materials. Supplies can be purchased directly from the instructor for $15 at the first class. Tools are provided by the instructor while in class.

Students develop balance and concentration by going through basic yang-style Tai Chi postures and health and wellness via performing Qi Gong routines. A Taijiquan private practitioner leads the class through Tai Chi walking, shifting of weight, balancing on one or both feet at a time, and beginning forms.
